Matric results date announced

The Department of Basic Education has published the 2023 school calendar, which kicks off on January 11 for learners in inland schools.

It is only two weeks and a few days until the matrics of 2022 will get to know how they did in their final exams.
This was after education minister Angie Motshekga announced this week that the results for the matrics of 2022 will be announced on January 19 and via schools and exam centres on January 20.

Motshekga said matrics will have until February 3 to apply for the remarking or rechecking of exam papers.

“For matrics who need to rewrite or improve their results, the next opportunity would be in May/June,” she said.

She added that learners will have until February 8 to register for the 2023 May/June exams. If they want to register for the 2023 October/November exams, the deadline is March 15.

Meanwhile, the Department of Basic Education has published the 2023 school calendar, which will start on January 11, for learners in inland schools.

Teachers and administrators will only resume work from January 9 to prepare for learners.

The dates for the school terms are as follows:

Term 1: January 11 – March 24
Term 2: April 12 – June 23
Term 3: July 18 – September 29
Term 4: October 10 – December 13
