Eskom announces stage 4 load-shedding

The struggling power utility said stage 4 would be implemented from 16:00-05:00, with stage 3 until Monday morning.

Eskom has announced that stage 4 load-shedding will be implemented from 16:00 on Thursday, January 5, until 05:00 on Friday morning.

Thereafter, stage 3 will be implemented during the day with stage 4 from 16:00 to 05:00 until Sunday.

The struggling power utility said that this decision came after delays in returning to service seven of its units.

The seven offline units are spread across six stations.

Eskom said that they currently have 6 014MW on planned maintenance and 17 278MW unavailable due to breakdowns.

Eskom encouraged power users to reduce their electricity usage and exercise patience and tolerance.
