Tshwane motorists urged to remain on high alert this rainy weekend
A level 2 warning for disruptive rain over Pretoria was issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS).

Tshwane emergency services called on residents and motorists to remain on high alert during this rainy weekend.
“Motorists must ensure that they do not cross flooded low-water bridges and find alternative routes when routes are unsafe to travel,” said Tshwane emergency services spokesperson Charles Mabaso.
He also urged motorists to be considerate of other road users on the road.
On Thursday, two vehicles got stuck due to floods in various parts of Pretoria.
Mabaso said the occupants of the vehicles managed to get to safety without any injuries.
There have not been any incidents of flooding in Pretoria since Thursday, according to Mabaso.
“We are monitoring the situation very closely,” he said.
A level 2 warning for disruptive rain over Pretoria was issued by the South African Weather Service (SAWS) on Thursday.
The warning highlighted the possibility of:
– Localised flooding of susceptible informal settlements or low-lying roads.
– Difficult driving conditions due to wet roads or pooling of water on roads with possible minor vehicle accidents affecting the afternoon commute.
– Difficult driving conditions on dirt roads.
Motorists were advised to stay indoors and off the roads as well as to avoid crossing flooded roads and swollen streams.
