The police crime intelligence unit in Standerton has recovered a white Toyota Etios, which was reported stolen five years ago in Centurion.

According to police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, investigation of the vehicle with no registration numbers was conducted and it was identified as the vehicle stolen in Centurion in May 2018.

Mohlala said they gathered information and employed the services of the Standerton K9 to conduct an operation that also led to the recovery of the vehicle.

The recovered stolen white Toyota Etios estimated to be worth about R85 000 was stolen five years ago.
“Investigations led to a house in Meyerville in Standerton where the suspicious vehicle was spotted,” Mohlala said.

She added that the suspect ran away, evading arrest when police arrived.

“Police are still on the lookout for the suspect and hope to bring him to book soon,” she said.

The vehicle was confiscated and taken to Standerton SAPS.

Mpumalanga Saps Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela applauded the excellent work by the police and called on community members to alert police to any suspicious criminal activities.

“The suspect might have evaded arrest for now, but with all the resources at our disposal, surely within no time the suspect will be traced and arrested,” said Manamela.
