The mayor thanked the drug unit for their relentless fight against drugs during a time that’s meant for family and friends.
Mayor Randall Williams recently commended the Tshwane metro police for its recent successes involving major busts over the festive season.
Metro police have since also arrested another two suspects in possession of drugs valued at over R95 000 combined.
The first arrest took place in Booysens, Pretoria West, on December 29 in which a suspect was arrested for being in possession of nyaope and crystal meth with an estimated value of R50 000.
The second arrest was in Pretoria North, on January 6 in which a 44-year-old suspect was arrested after being in possession of R45 000 worth of crystal meth and CAT.
“I believe that the continued efforts by the TMPD drug unit have a lasting impact on the drugs distribution networks,” said Williams.
“Furthermore, valuable information can be obtained from these suspects that can lead to more investigations and arrests.”

This follows a major bust in Hammanskraal on December 21 in which four suspects were arrested for the possession of drugs with an estimated value of R550 000.
Williams thanked the unit for continuing their relentless fight against drugs during a time that’s meant for family and friends.
“I want to call on all our residents to help us combat drug-related crime by reporting relevant information to law enforcement agencies. Residents who want to assist and report drug-related crimes can contact the SAPS on 10111 or TMPD on 012 358 7095/7096,” concluded Williams.
