Criminals hijack officer who was driving police van
The police officer was robbed of his belongings and the vehicle was later recovered at Winterveldt.
A police officer driving a police van was robbed and hijacked by three men in the north of Pretoria recently.
“The officer was dropping off two crime victims at their home when he was hijacked,” said police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe.
The victims had had earlier made a case at the Temba police station in Hammanskraal.
“After dropping off the second victim, the officer was accosted by three men who drove him to Winterveldt where they abandoned the vehicle,” she said.
The officer was robbed of his belongings.
Mathe called on the communities in the north of Pretoria to help in finding the suspects.

“Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. We are calling on members of the public to work with members of the SAPS to prevent and combat criminality,” she said.
“We cannot have a situation where police officers go beyond the call of duty by dropping off victims at their homes and such a heinous act happens.
We are calling on the community to hand over those responsible.”
