Four armed robbers target Laudium homeschooling establishment

The armed men entered the classroom where they demanded the teachers’ and learners’ cellphones.

Laudium police are searching for four men who robbed teachers and learners at a local homeschooling establishment at gunpoint on Tuesday morning.

“No one has been arrested as yet and we are pleading with everyone with information about the suspects that might lead to their arrest,” said police spokesperson Simon Chokoe.

He said a case of business robbery has been opened.

The armed men entered the classroom where they demanded their cellphones.

According to Chokoe, the robbers got away with 19 cellphones, laptops, learners’ bags, car keys and an undisclosed amount of cash.

“They fled the scene in a learner’s vehicle, a white Polo, which they abandoned a few kilometres from the scene.”

The area has been hit by crime in the past.

Earlier this year, a 48-year-old man was arrested for gunning down a 50-year-old attorney on New Year’s Eve.

In 2019, a local soft drink depot was robbed in broad daylight and the robbers got away with cellphones and a BMW.
