Three drug dealers taken off Centurion streets
Lyttelton police recovered nyaope (heroin), crystal meth, rock cocaine, and a large amount of marijuana.
Centurion has three fewer drug dealers after weekend operations by the Lyttelton police led to their arrests and the recovery of various narcotics.
“Drugs are not welcome in our policing area,” said Lyttelton police spokesperson Captain Dave Miller.
The first of the operations began early Friday morning at 01:00, with officers watching a well-known drug house in the Centurion area.

“During the operation, a vehicle was spotted approaching the dealers’ location. The occupants then made contact with the dealers and an exchange took place,” said Miller.
“A persuasive tactical takedown was executed by the police team. Once the scene was secured, the officers searched the area along with a narcotics K9 and located the dealers’ stock.”
Miller said the team recovered 28 nyaope (heroin) sachets, nine ziplock bags of crystal meth and three packages of rock cocaine.

Later that day, police received information about a vehicle that was transporting narcotics in the area.
Police issued an order to be on the lookout and officers searched for the vehicle matching the description.
Soon, the vehicle was located and stopped.
Upon searching the vehicle, it was established that it was transporting a large quantity of marijuana.
“All the arrested suspects will face charges relating to possession and dealing in narcotics, and they will appear before the Pretoria magistrate’s court within 48 hours,” said Miller.
“We will not tolerate any form of drug trafficking or dealing in our community and will do our utmost to ensure that all drug offences registered at the police station are prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
