Emergency repairs will affect water supply in Pretoria
Three reservoirs will be depleted during the eight hour repair job on Wednesday.

Tshwane residents are warned of possible water interruptions on Wednesday, April 12 due to emergency repair work to a major water leak on a Rand Water pipeline.
The work is being done on the B8 pipeline from Zuikerbosch water treatment plant to Mapelton booster pumping station, and will take about eight hours on Wednesday from 04:00 to 12:00.
The shutdown will see the Mapelton system reduced by 82% and will result in the depletion of water in three reservoirs, Vlakfontein 1 and 2 and Bronberge.
“According to the water utility, the leak is increasingly serious and will result in an increase of non-revenue water as well as possible flooding of the electromagnetic equipment which are currently submerged under water,” said City spokesperson Lindela Mashigo.
“The affected reservoirs will be filled to capacity prior to the shutdown and residents are urged to use water sparingly. Roaming water tankers will be arranged for all affected areas.”
