Mooiplaats accident claims one

The vehicle in question was a VW Polo Playa.

An accident in Mooiplaats on Tuesday evening has claimed one life.

According to responding paramedic service, SVTA/LifeMed spokesperson Dean Slater, a motorist lost control of their vehicle around 20:00 on Boschkop Road and rolled.

It appeared the vehicle eventually crashed into a telephone pole and the motorist was ejected.

SVTA/LifeMed, Emer-G-Med and VEMRU were dispatched to the scene.

“It appears as though the driver lost control and the car rolled several times before being ejected,” Slater said.

“The vehicle, a VW Polo Playa, had cut a telephone pole in half and we found the patient lying supine suffering from severe head and chest trauma.”

Paramedics on the scene had attempted resuscitation however, the patient’s injuries were too severe and was declared dead on the scene.

The exact cause of the accident is still unknown.

On April 11, LifeMed responded to an accident in Danville, Pretoria West where a truck had hit a pedestrian.
