N1 truck accident: Cleaning operations still underway, all lanes closed
All lanes remain closed as the cleaning of the road is still in progress, says Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso.

Cleaning and recovery are in progress at the N1 highway where two trucks collided in the early hours of Monday morning.
All lanes remain closed as the cleaning of the N1 South just after the N4 Proefplaas interchange was in progress, according to Tshwane Emergency Services spokesperson Charles Mabaso.
One of the trucks believed to have been transporting hazardous materials collided with another truck.
“A hazardous material company contracted to Sanral was then dispatched to monitor the situation as well as commence with the cleaning and containment of the hazardous material.
“One person was treated on the scene and transported to Steve Biko academic hospital,” Mabaso said.
Law enforcement authorities were on the scene and advised motorists to use alternative routes.
According to Mabaso, one truck hit the other from behind.
“Upon arrival on the scene, both trucks were on fire, the one was fully engulfed by the flames and the truck’s trailer in front was only partially on fire.”
In addition, Mabaso said the metro’s firefighters managed to contain the fire, adding they extinguished the fire from both trucks.
