Security forum, metro band together to clean up Silver Lakes
Du Plessis says they were cleaning the entire area including all roads from Graham Road in the south to all roads below the N4 in the north and Tijger Valley College in the east, up to Solomon Mahlangu Drive in the west.
A local security forum and the Tshwane metro teamed up to clean the Silver Lakes area this past Saturday.
According to Lakes Security Forum director Hennie du Plessis, a clean and well-maintained environment sends a strong message that the community stands together.
Du Plessis said they were cleaning the entire area including all roads from Graham Road in the south to all roads below the N4 in the north and Tijger Valley College in the east, up to Solomon Mahlangu Drive in the west.
“We want to create an environment that can be enjoyed by all and show that working together can make a difference,” he added.
He said sponsors were helping the forum with water stations to ensure residents stay hydrated.

In addition, he told Rekord that this was the second event the forum was hosting, this year.
The organisation plans to make the event bigger and better.
“We would like to do these cleaning initiatives quarterly but hope that we can lead people into cleaning their surroundings daily,” Du Plessis said.
Tshwane mayor Cilliers Brink on the official Tshwane metro Facebook page applauded the forum and community members for coming together and cleaning up the area.
“As the metro, we welcome and support all community-driven initiatives that seek to make our city work for all its residents,” Brink said.
