“Their vehicle was searched and the officers found housebreaking equipment.”

Tshwane metro police arrested two men after a high-speed chase in the east of Pretoria on Tuesday.

One of the men arrested was wounded in the incident on May 16, 2023, at around 22:00.

“While patrolling in Lynwood Road, TMPD officers spotted a suspicious Honda vehicle with three men inside,” said metro police spokesperson Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba.

“They tried to stop the vehicle, but it sped off. The officers then gave chase and called for more backup.”

“The officers managed to catch up to the vehicle in Nellmapius near Solomon Mahlangu Drive.”

Mahamba said during the chase a suspect took out a firearm, but the officers returned fire, leaving him wounded.

He said two suspects were apprehended while the third one evaded arrest.

“Their vehicle was searched and the officers found housebreaking equipment,” said Mahamba.

He said it was also found that the vehicle had been stolen.

“The suspects face charges for possession of a stolen vehicle, housebreaking equipment and an unlicensed firearm.

“The injured suspect was taken to a hospital under police custody.”.
