Reeva Steenkamp’s father dies at 80
According to the Reeva Steenkamp Foundation, Barry's family find solace in the knowledge that “he is now with his beloved Reeva”.
Reeva Steenkamp’s father has died.
According to the Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation Facebook page, Barry Steenkamp (80) died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday evening, September 14.
In a post, the foundation confirmed Steenkamp’s “sudden and peaceful passing” in the “early evening”.
“Barry was a blessing to many, and he will be remembered with love and great fondness,” the foundation wrote.
“We find solace in the knowledge that he is now with his beloved Reeva.”
Steenkamp is survived by his wife, June, and two children.
Reeva was shot dead by her boyfriend Oscar Pistorius on February 14, 2013, in his home in Silver Lakes, east of Pretoria.
Pistorius is currently serving a 13-year jail sentence for the murder.
