Delivery vehicle recovered after hijacking in Ga-Rankuwa
The only thing missing was a cellphone that was supposed to be delivered.
The police are searching for a suspect who hijacked a courier vehicle delivering a parcel in Ga-Rankuwa Zone 7 on Monday.
According to police spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan Van Dyk, the victim was hijacked in a White Isuzu bakkie which was later recovered in Zone 7.
Van Dyk said the victim was busy with a customer when an unknown suspect attacked him.
“The victim was writing a delivery note when the suspect attacked him while swearing at him.”
Van Dyk said the victim panicked and took cover, after which the suspect drove away with the car.
He said the victim then went to the station to open a case.
“After a case was registered, the police started with investigations and a search party went to look for the vehicle which was found abandoned.”
Van Dyk said all the parcels were still sealed, while only a cellphone which was supposed to be delivered was missing.
He said the victim did not sustain any injuries.
Anyone with information that may assist the police in finding the suspect is urged to contact the Ga-Rankuwa police station.
