Missing person found dead at Groenkloof Nature Reserve
The woman had previously been reported missing at the Brooklyn police station.
Police in Pretoria opened an inquest case after the body of a missing woman was found hanging from a tree in the Groenkloof Nature Reserve on Wednesday, January 29.
According to police spokesperson Captain Johan van Dyk, Pretoria Central police arrived at the reserve at about 07:30.
The woman was reported missing at the Brooklyn police station but police have not revealed her identity.
According to Van Dyk, security guards at the Groenkloof Nature Reserve reported that she had asked them if she could go in to take photographs.
“They granted her entry. Then became suspicious as her car was parked in the reserve for some time. When they approached, they found it was locked, and nobody was found inside.”
Tshwane Metro Police were contacted to help identify the owner of the vehicle using the registration number.
“A search was conducted in the reserve when they came upon the scene.”
Van Dyk said it was too early in the investigation to rule out any foul play.
