Mamelodi schools welcome youngest learners for first day

Grades R and 1 learners were welcomed warmly by teachers, marking a memorable first school day.

January 14 marked the first day of big school for grades R and 1 learners in Mamelodi.

Rekord visited numerous schools in the area to document this milestone in the new learners’ school careers.

At Bohlabatsatsi Primary School in Mamelodi West, the new learners were welcomed with warmth, and it was fun and laughter as the teachers showed parents the classrooms.

The parents took pictures with their children after they accompanied them to their new classes and met their new teachers at the school.

Many Grade 1s told Rekord that they were excited to make new friends, play on the playground and learn from their teachers.

All learners were allocated to their designated seats when they arrived, with emotional parents having the opportunity to take pictures and kiss their little ones goodbye and leave them in the hands of their new teachers.
