Boeremark welcomes thousands of guests this weekend

The Boeremark scooped up the Best Craft Market, Best Food Market, and the Best Market awards in the Best of Pretoria 2025.

The beloved Pretoria Boeremark saw over 6 000 residents stop by Silverton this weekend to indulge in a one-of-a-kind shopping experience featuring over 300 stalls.

Marketing manager CD van Reenen says it started as a platform for farmers to directly sell their products to clients.

The market offers a wide selection of consumables for residents to browse, including homemade fruit and veg, homemade butter, milk, bread, cheese, meat, and many more food items, clothing, arts and crafts.

“It’s open every Saturday, come rain or snow. It’s been the way for the past 33 years, since 1992. It’s a morning market from 05:30 to 09:30, and the reason for that is that it’s fresh produce, so in the summer, flowers, meat, cheese, and milk can be difficult to keep cold and fresh for the customers.

“Also, a lot of stall holders are just normal people with children and families and other things to do on their Saturday. So, this way, it’s early morning, done and dusted, and the rest of the weekend is yours,” Van Reenen said.

The market broke some of its own records this past December, as over 8 000 people attended some of the festive markets, and their night market also welcomed over 16 000 guests.

The Pretoria Boeremark scooped up the Best Craft Market, Best Food Market, and the Best Market awards in the Best of Pretoria 2025.

Van Reenen says they look forward to hosting various themed markets throughout the rest of the year, the first of which will be the Valentine’s Day market. There are also plans for Grandparents Day, Toddlers Day, and many others that will be communicated through their Facebook page.
