Abbotts College Centurion students reap the fruits of their considerable efforts
For many students walking out with a matric pass at the end of their high school career is the ultimate goal. At Abbotts College Centurion, merely passing simply isn’t enough, and this attitude was reflected in students’ phenomenal results.

The class of 2022 saw a 100% pass rate, with the top student, Zia Hassim, taking home seven distinctions. “We are incredibly proud of our students. They have worked extremely hard, and now they reap what they have sowed,” says Principal Sanet Van Rensburg.

Abbotts College allows many students to redo and upgrade their matric results, and this year was no different. Some of our part-time students, like Obakeng Baloyi, improved on his previous year’s matric results in the following subjects.

- English Home Language – Improved by 6%
- Mathematics – Improved by 25%
- Accounting – Improved by 15%
He also took a new subject, Tourism, and achieved 75%.
“Obakeng is but one of our students who saw an improvement in their marks,” says Van Rensburg. Improvement and positioning students for academic success form part of the Abbotts College ethos. Encouraging students to reach their personal best is what it is all about for us. Whether it means you move from a B to an A or from a D to a C.

Taking a year out before their planned studies can set students on a stronger foot and could mean the difference between enrolling for plan B or making sure you can continue with plan A albeit a year later. “Taking that time should be seen as an investment,” says Van Rensburg.
But students need not wait to redo their matric; we encourage students to move as soon as they identify the need to join a school that will allow them to get back on track. Abbotts College High School caters for students from Grades 8-12.
