Residents are entitled to ask questions

"Residents are entitled to ask – if service delivery issues are being addressed in other parts of the municipal area, why not in Centurion?"

I note your report on operation “Kuka Maoto improves city services” (Centurion 17 July). The residents of ward 57 (Lyttelton, Centurion Business District, Die Hoewes, part of Zwartkop) have seen no spin-off from this project to improve service delivery. The water pipes leak regularly, leaks are not repaired timeously, street lights are repaired only after a lengthy struggle, illegal dumping is a regular occurrence, illegal posters are not removed, the weeds flourish on the sidewalks, litter is not collected, the electricity infrastructure is not maintained. These are only some of the service delivery failures.

Residents are entitled to ask – if service delivery issues are being addressed in other parts of the municipal area, why not in Centurion? After all, they pay dearly for services. Why should they put up with service delivery failures? Residents can provide an answer to these questions in 2016 through the ballot box.
