Careless motorist knocks boy off bicycle

"As a parent, how would you feel if this had happened to your child?"

On Friday 2 October, my son was knocked off his bicycle on the corner of Waterbok- and Grysbok Streets in Theresa Park by a very inconsiderate motorist, who was driving his vehicle on the pavement!

This driver left the Theresa Park crèche and then drove on the pavement towards Grysbok Street.

The worst of it all, was that even though the motorist saw he had knocked my son down, the careless motorist did not even bother to stop, but sped away instead.

Not even an apology was given, besides the fact that the cyclist could have been killed.

My son sustained injuries to his leg, foot, ribs and shoulder and has had to endure much pain.

According to residents in this particular area, this is a daily occurrence, with motorists driving illegally on the pavement, and sometimes recklessly as well.

This type of behaviour will not be tolerated, so motorists beware!

This is a plea to all motorists to be more aware of cyclists and/or pedestrians.

As a parent, how would you feel if this had happened to your child?
