Good day Rekord readers

I would like to express how immensely proud I am of the 74-year-old lady who protected herself from the thieves that broke into her home when she didn’t want to open for them. If I recall correctly, this happened in Baileys’ Muckleneuk in the east.

We live in a time where we simply can not afford to be negligent, too comfortable or trust anybody. Who knows what would have happened to her if she either opened the gate to let them in, or if they got in and found her in the house? She acted so bravely and did the right thing by locking herself in the garage, triggering the alarm and making even more noise by blowing the car’s horn. So proud!

I think all of us, especially the elderly and people with small children, need to think of precautionary measures around the house to protect ourselves. Talk to your children about what to do if a robber approaches the house, give them emergency numbers to call, and work out a gameplan for when and if such a day arrives.

Sincerely, a very proud Pretorian.
