After living in Pretoria many moons ago, I moved back to the city in December last year.
Indeed, absence makes the heart grow fonder in many ways.
I have thoughts and feelings I wish to share with you. Maybe they will put a smile on your face. I indeed hope so…
Many things have stunned, amazed, shocked, amused and reassured me upon my return to the city.
I have relocated to one of the most beautiful cities in South Africa, if not the world.
After many twists and turns this year, I finally had the opportunity and honour to open one of your newspapers and read it back to front.
Apart from the usual news there were many stories.
Stories of hope, courage, empathy, sympathy but above all – humanity.
Since my return, angels “masquerading” as people have met me along the way.
They helped me with no wish to attain something in return.
I am talking about selfless acts of kindness to someone who has gone through possibly the darkest time of his life.
When asked about this, they all responded in the same way: “We just want to help you. That’s all.”
To them all, thank you. Thank you for reminding me of my humanity and humbling me.
I have rediscovered who I am thanks to you all. May we all be blessed and stay blessed in our beautiful Jacaranda city.
