Good day
I refer to the letter dated 23 Sept , about “Keep your pets at home or else…”
We live in Montana Gardens, Pretoria. We moved there during December 2015 and we are an animal loving family. We have a bullmastiff and two Jack Russells, they are very well domesticated and disciplined.
My wife also had a very special soul companion, a ringneck parrot. He could talk, new the children’s names and really connected with us. He was tamed, his wings were clipped and he roamed inside the house freely. He only climbed into his cage at night to go to sleep.
A week after we moved into this house, a cat from across the street came into our house and killed him.
This was his safe place, just like it is my children’s safe place. But I do not have rights. I agree with the writer of the pre-mentioned letter.
Ever since, I cannot guarantee the safety of any cat straying onto my property. I am responsible for the safety of my pet-children. And then there are the numerous nights when other people’s cats come over to my perimeter walls to whine to the moon, driving the neighbourhood’s dogs crazy, keeping us from a good night’s rest.
Cat owners, so are you. So keep them on your property.
