One day at a time
For most of us, life is not a constant stream of major crises or overwhelming problems.
Ps 37:5 (AMP) says: “Commit your way to the Lord (roll and repose each care of your load on Him); trust (lean on, rely on and be confident) also in Him and He will bring it to pass.”
Without fuel a fire grows cold, and so does faith. Rom 10:17 (AMP): “Faith comes by hearing what is told, and what is heard comes by the preaching of the message that comes from the lips of Christ (the Messiah Himself).”
Many things in life can disrupt our life’s journey if we are not careful: destructive emotions, wrong motives, bad habits, disappointments, failures, difficult relationships, suffering and grief.
We all experience these things in a greater or lesser way. Yet, in all things, God wants to help us gain the victory.
For most of us, life is not a constant stream of major crises or overwhelming problems.
Instead, most of our time is spent in the routine of daily living; work, family, finances, entertainment, sport, etc. Meals need preparing, trash must be taken out, bills must be paid.
Even now, while reading this, an outside drain is blocked, the roof might be leaking or there’s a bus/taxi strike or cable theft. You name it, it happens! That’s life.
Life is full of challenges and major or minor annoyances. Unless we take measures to deal with it, they will smother our faith.
All too often we confine God to one day of the week. We divide up our lives and put God into one compartment, while leaving Him out of the others.
But this is a serious error and one Satan hopes we will make! If he can persuade us to keep God confined to one day a week or only part of our lives, then he has gained a great victory.
Now what keeps Christ from every part of our lives? Is it because we want to control it ourselves? Or is it because we never realised that He wants to extend His authority over everything?
Whatever the reason may be, give yourself to Him without reserve and submit every area of your life to His control and “He will bring it to pass”!
Let God be an active part of every day of your life.
