OPINION: Resurrection faith

The veil in the temple of God in Jerusalem was torn open from the top to the bottom.

There are four distinct power moments that came from the cross of Calvary where Jesus was crucified for the sin of mankind. 2 Cor. 5:21 says: “For He (God) made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (Jesus)”.

Jesus took mankind’s cloak of sin and gave mankind His cloak of righteousness. Mankind’s righteousness is self-righteousness and self-righteousness can never justify mankind before a righteous God.

The First Power Moment

The first power moment of the cross was total darkness for three hours, from 12:00-15:00.

Matt. 27:45 says: “Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. In our lives we will experience times of darkness where everything seems to be lost and there seems to be no hope, yet that darkness shouldn’t continue in your life. The enemy, Satan rejoiced because of the darkness thinking; I have killed the Son of man, I’ve gotten rid of the Light Giver of mankind.”

The Second Power Moment

The veil in the temple of God in Jerusalem was torn open from the top to the bottom.

Matt. 27:50+51 says: “And Jesus cried out with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then behold the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to the bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split.”

From the top to the bottom declares that this was not an act of man, but of God. This declares that Jesus’s death opened the way into God’s presence for all of mankind, not only for the high priest who was the only one permitted to enter the Holy of Holies once a year on the Day of Atonement.

The Third Power Moment

“The opening of the graves”. Matt. 27:52: “And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised”.

The earthquake opened the tombs and the bodies of many saints were raised on the third day after the resurrection of Jesus.

Isaiah the Messianic Prophet (the prophet who spoke about Jesus being the Messiah) says in Is. 26:19: “Your dead shall live; together with My dead body they shall rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust… the earth shall cast out the dead”.

The Fourth Power Moment

The “light” broke through for the unbelieving Roman Centurion and those with him. Matt 27:54: “So when the Centurion and those with him, who were guarding Jesus, saw the earthquake and the things that happened, they feared greatly saying; ‘Truly this was the Son of God’”.

In conclusion:

1. You can come out of the darkness you’re in.

2. God has made a way through Jesus’s death.

3. You can come out of your grave or groove.

4. The light can break through for you.

My challenge to you … Come to the light! Break out of anything that’s holding you captive. If you listen carefully you will hear Him calling your name as He called the name of Lazarus and Lazarus came forth! To move into your “new day” you’ve got to come out of your grave or your groove. By God’s grace you can do it right now as you read this challenge.
