The prestigious reputation of Zwartkop Country Club and the 20th World Golfers Championship will once again come together for the hosting of the Gauteng North regional elimination on Wednesday, 16 July. Amateur golfers will have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest golfing legends who have walked the fairways of Zwartkop, as they put their own skills to the test in the world’s largest amateur golfing tournament. This year World Golfers Championship is celebrating 20 years of bringing golfers together to experience the pride of representing their country, while at the same time forging new friendships and business networks through their passion for golf. In a build up to the World Final, more than 40 countries, including South Africa, will once again be searching for their top amateur golfers to take on the world from 29 October to 8 November across four of KwaZulu-Natal’s championship golf courses. Amateur golfers who believe they have the ‘drive to win’ need to first enter the regional elimination to secure their spot on the tee-box. The top three winners in each flighting (0-5, 6-10, 11-15, 16-20 and 21-15) win an all-expense paid entry to the SA Final, where the top two flighting winners will be selected for Team South Africa 1 and 2. The team will then have the opportunity of a life-time to experience the thrill of a pro golfer tour-like competition as they represent their country and defend the title at the World Final. “Team SA will compete over six consecutive days of golf across four championship courses” said Beverley Theron, event managing executive of World Golf Events South Africa. She also confirmed that participants will enjoy four-star luxury accommodation at the beachfront Elangeni & Maharani Hotel with a luxury coach service to and from the courses each day and experience the unforgettable opening flag raising and closing prize giving tournament gala ceremonies.
