Sport Highlights, 11-13 March

It seems that this year will become a great year for South African athletics and therefore the action at the Gauteng North track and field championships should not be missed this weekend.

Rugby, cricket, athletics and football is the main sports action on the menu for sports fans of Pretoria this weekend.

Rugby

The Bulls has a by, but there are several other rugby action in Pretoria this weekend. The finals of the Assupol Club series is taking place at Loftus Versfeld on the B-, and C-fields. The action starts at 12:00 and the main game between Pretoria Police and Tuks will start at 17:00.

If all the political problems are dispelled by Monday, rugby lovers in Pretoria can look forward to Varsity Cup action between the home team and the University of Johannesburg (UJ) at the Tuks Rugby stadium. The game will start at 18:30.

Athletics

Although there is no major road race this weekend in Pretoria, athletics fans can look forward to plenty of action in the city.

The Athletics Gauteng North annual track and field championships takes place this weekend (Friday 11 to Saturday 12 March) at the Pilditch stadium. The juniors and seniors championships will both be completed on the same weekend.

Cricket

The Titans are still at the top of the log in the Sunfoil four-day series and therefore every game they play is of utmost importance.

They play against the Dolphins in Durban this weekend. While the Dolphins no longer have a good chance to win the series, they will certainly not lie down against the Titans. This game starts on Thursday 10 March and will end on Sunday 13 March.

Soccer

After the short break due to the Nedbank Cup matches, the Premier Soccer league games will continue this weekend. However, only one of the local teams will be in action this weekend.

The University of Pretoria (AmaTuks) will play against Black Aces on Saturday at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. This game will start at 15:30.
