A new mountain bike circuit relay race will be hosted by the Tshwane metro on Sunday, 27 March at the Wolwespruit MTB park, Erasmuskloof.
Cyclist are invited to participate in a new event for solo riders and teams of two or four on the mountain bike calendar, the metro said in a media statement.
“An exciting weekend of racing, hosted by the metro, commences on Saturday, 26 March, with the third round of the STIHL 2016 SA national mountain bike series, a UCI (Union Cyclist International) category 1 MTB cross-country race that forms part of the Olympic qualification for elite men and women riders,” the statement read.
“The course is a 12km circuit covering a maximum distance of 48km – riders can do one, two or all four circuits depending on the category entered.”
The entry fee is R150 per rider. Due to the nature of the course, solo entries will be limited to 120 men and 30 women.
Numbers for teams of two and four riders are not limited. The total prize money is R70 000.
