SPORT: Wondrous beat No Fear Boys in east friendly

Wondrous trashed No Fear Boys 3-1 in an action-packed friendly match on Sunday.

No Fear Boys suffered a 3-1 humiliating defeat at the hands of Wondrous in a friendly match at Muckleneuk sport ground on Sunday.

The loss came as a surprise as No Fear Boys competed in the Castle League, a division higher to Wondrous’ Super league.

The Boys played convincing football in the first half putting pressure on the Wondrous defence, which eventually buckled in the 15th minute when Mongezi Shongwe fouled Sakie Ramochete in the area for a penalty ably converted by Donald Masegwana.

The Boys continued their dominance in the first half but were unable to increase their lead.

Wondrous seized the initiative in the second stanza and found their equaliser in the 55th minute with Nkosinathi Mntambo lashing Andile Buso pass into the top corner.

Then Michael Mphahlele put Wondrous ahead in the 85th minute with a grass cutter after one-two with Mntambo.

Mphahlele completed his brace in the dying minutes.

Wondrous coach Boitumelo Thole congratulated his side for the job well done.

“We played very well,” Thole said.

He said in the future his team would consider playing against the bigger boys more.

Interim Boys coach Shoes Malwa said a win was not important to them as they were playing a preseason match. “The match helps us assess the players’ skills,” he said congratulating his boys for doing well in the first half.

He said he had substituted his ten experienced players.
