SPORT: Centurion indoor cricketer represents SA in Junior World Series
The SA team took on countries like New Zealand, Australia, England and Singapore.
A Centurion high school indoor cricketer was among those who represented SA at the Junior World Series in New Zealand.
The tournament was hosted in Christchurch from 23 September to 6 October.
Boerie Basson is in Grade 11 and was capped last month along with his teammates.

The capping was done by the SA indoor cricket federation.
He was part of the SA under 17 team.
The team took on countries like New Zealand, Australia, England and Singapore.
“It was an intense battle but they made friends on the court and played with respect,” said Basson’s father Gert.
Despite a great semifinal which saw the SA beat Australia 92-85, the final against host nation New Zealand proved a bit more challenging.
Basson’s father describes the final as “nail-biting”.
Unfortunately the locals lost 100-74 and ended up bringing home the silver medal.
Nevertheless, Basson and his team returned to South Africa on 8 October and will continue working on their future in the sport.
Basson is also part of the Gauteng North team.
