SPORT: Local T20 team misses out on Morkel
The 37-year-old Titans skipper has been drafted into the Durban Heat ahead of the anticipated Mzansi Super League.
Tshwane Spartans failed to capture Titans captain Albie Morkel ahead of the inaugural Mzansi Super League.
The T20 franchise tournament kicks off next month and will feature local and international cricket stars.
Six teams are scheduled to take part, playing a total of 32 matches.
Titans skipper Morkel, who has been playing cricket in Pretoria for the past 14 years, will not be part of the Tshwane Spartans. During the draft, the 37-year-old all-rounder was snatched up by the Durban Heat.
He will play alongside his Proteas teammates such as Hashim Amla, David Miller and Vernon Philander. Morkel will also reunite with Heinrich Klaasen and Marchant de Lange, who play domestic cricket with the all-rounder.

Despite failing to capture Morkel, the Pretoria side still has enough firepower to win the competition.
They are led by none other than AB de Villiers, who’s widely considered the best batsman of his generation. Alongside him is England limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan and Sean Williams from Zimbabwe.
Lungi Ngidi, Theunis de Bruyn and Rory Kleinveldt will all look to contribute as they have enough experience to assist De Villiers.
