SPORT: Downs unbeaten run ends, Silva slams Mosimane
In an open letter to the media, Silva accused Mosimane of favouritism and called him the weakest coach he has worked with.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ 28-game unbeaten run has come to an abrupt end.
The Pretoria giants lost 2-0 to AmaZulu at Loftus Versfeld hours after Downs coach Pitso Mosimane was slammed by his former player Toni Silva.
An own goal by Teboho Langerman followed by a second-half strike by Ovidy Karuru were enough to give the team from Durban all three the points.
The win moved Usuthu out of the relegation zone while Downs remained third.

Tuesday’s match was overshadowed by former Downs midfielder Silva’s letter, which became quite the talking point.
In the open letter to the media, Silva accused Mosimane of favouritism and called him the weakest coach he has worked with.
“You are arrogant and your ego does not help you as you fail to make your players happy, but killing dreams and players’ careers, then turn around and say ‘it didn’t work out’. I was under your management for six months and all we did was the same training until the day I left and you call yourself a good coach? You always say if you play good in one match, you will play the next match, but that’s not true because you have favouritism.”
In the letter, the midfielder also ranted about how Mosimane played him out of position during his six months’ stay at the club.
“Ever since I came to the club you never gave me a chance to play in my original position, which is as a right winger, yet you have a big mouth to tell the papers that ‘things didn’t work out and other players give more’. Don’t forget that there are (the) favourites that you give freedom to, then (there are) others (who you) don’t give freedom and chances to,” Silva said in the letter.

Silva, who’s now with Al Ittihad Alexandria of Egypt, also came in support of Downs winger George Lebese.
“You have George Lebese in the team, the boy is not playing and everyone knows he is one of the best players in the league, and you can’t even give a reason why, but you say ‘it didn’t work out’. You won’t even let him play elsewhere because you know he would fly high and expose you as the bad coach you are,” he said in the letter.
Sundowns and Mosimane are yet to give comment about Silva’s accusations.
