SPORT: Proteas play their final game at SuperSport Park before World Cup
The Proteas play their last game at home before flying to England for the 2019 World Cup.
Proteas will play their final home match at SuperSport Park this Friday before their preparations for the World Cup begin.
They host Sri Lanka in the second T20 international match on Friday evening in Centurion.
The Proteas narrowly won the first T20 match at Newlands, Cape Town on Tuesday evening.
The home side looked to be coasting to victory with 18 runs from four overs and seven wickets in hand.
David Miller and Rassie van der Dussen looked unstoppable after sharing a 50-run partnership off 33 balls. That quickly changed when both players lost their wickets and left the tail exposed to Lasith Malinga’s yorkers, who took 2/11 in his four overs.
Malinga forced the game to go into the super over but was unsuccessful (in the super over) as Miller smashed 13 runs.

Having scored 14 runs in total, SA gave the ball to Imran Tahir to defend the runs.
Tahir proved more than equal to the task, conceding only five runs from his eight balls. In the end, the Proteas won but were left to rue their not having played very smart cricket in the closing stages of their innings in chasing down a modest target.
On Friday, both teams are expected to make changes to their squads. Faf du Plessis, Quinton de Kock and Kagiso Rabada will be given a rest while Litho Sipamla, Lungi Ngidi and Aiden Markram are expected to feature.
Following the conclusion of the match, Proteas coach and the selection team will sit and decide on the 15 men who will represent Proteas at the ICC World Cup which kicks off in May.
One man who needs to get on the runs is opener Reeza Hendricks.
The 29-year-old Lions big-hitter is in need of runs if he is to be selected for the World Cup. He has been in fine form for the Lions at home but internationally, he hasn’t shown the same consistency despite getting numerous chances.
