SPORT: Uptown hold No Fear Boys to a draw

No Fear Boys and Uptown played a 2-all draw in an action packed Super League match at Muckleneuk Sport Complex in the east of Mamelodi on Sunday.

Uptown scored in the dying minutes to deny No Fear Boys victory in an entertaining Super League match at Muckleneuk sports complex in Mamelodi on Sunday.

Striker Musa Hlatswayo finished from a square pass from the right wing to tie the scores at 2-all.

Uptown had dominated the first half of the action-packed encounter while the Boys the second.

Uptown opened the scoring as early as the 12th minute with Bongani Mazibuko glancing a header in from a Hemilton Ntuli corner off the goal post.

The visitors’ lead put a severe pressure on the home side, who struggled to find their rhythm in first half to take the tunnel at 1-0 to Uptown.

In a bid to avoid defeat, the home side changed their game plan from defensive to attacking in the second half, and it quickly paid off with an equaliser in the 50th minute, thanks to Tshegofatso Maseko.

Maseko caught the Uptown defence flat-footed thinking he was offside to slot a grasscutter through the bottom left of keeper Vusumuzi Lesinga.

In 76th minute Boys thought they’d won the tie when Sandile Ndala dusted himself off after being fouled by defender Nicolas Mabena outside the box to convert the resultant free kick only for the visitors to level 12 minutes later.

Boys and Uptown next play Mamelodi United and Sampdoria respectively on a date and time yet to be announced by the Mamelodi Local Football Association.
