SPORT: SuperSport United to decide on Lebese

The Mamelodi born winger was signed on a six months loan deal in January after he struggled to get game time at Sundowns.

SuperSport United will decide at the end of the season whether or not to keep George Lebese, who is on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.

Lebese (30) was signed on a six-month loan deal in January after he had struggled to get game time at Sundowns. Since joining Matsatsantsa, the Mamelodi-born winger has made seven appearances but he is yet to find the back of the net.

United coach Kaitano Tembo said no decision has been made on Lebese’s future yet.

“We have not had any discussions on the movement of Lebese. We are waiting for the season to end, then we can see if we will keep him or not,” said Tembo.

Lebese made his name during his days at Kaizer Chiefs, where he was part of the team that won the league twice between 2012 and 2015.

With United having secured a top-8 spot this season, Tembo will be looking for a strong finish that could determine who stays and who leaves at the end of the season.

United released Thuso Phala two months ago and could release more players when the season ends.

“All players including [Morgan] Gould’s and [Clayton] Daniels’ situation will be discussed during the off-season. They are still contracted to us. As soon as we agree on something, announcements will be made,” Tembo said.

Matsatsantsa host Highlands Park on Saturday in their final match of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season.
