Tshwane mayor opens revamped north sports ground

Former Sundowns and Orlando pirates players attend the official opening of Bana Sports Ground.

Tshwane Mayor Stevens Mokgalapa, together with MMC for Community and Social Development Services Sakkie Du Plooy, officially opened the revamped Bana Sports Ground on Saturday in Mabopane.

“The sports ground is one of the oldest grounds in Mabopane,” said Mokgalapa.

“It has produced high profile players such as Nick Seshwani, Challies Mathabe and Bangi Makau”.

The stadium has now been upgraded and boasts PSL standards including change rooms, a paved parking lot and floodlights to accommodate night games.

Former Sundowns player Katlego Mphela, Miss Sundowns Faith Nonyane and former Orlando Pirates captain Lucky Legwathi were amongst the people who attended the opening.
