SuperSport United recruit new players

SuperSport United have beefed up their squad ahead of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership season which kicks off in three weeks.

The Pretoria club announced the signing of Thamsanqa Gabuza and Kudakwashe Mahachi from Orlando Pirates last month.

Another player who recently joined Matsatsantsa is 20-year-old Jesse Donn from Ubuntu Cape Town F.C.

The club has since released Reneilwe Letsholonyane, James Keene and Thuso Phala.

Gabuza, who has 16 caps for Bafana Bafana, was signed after he had a poor and controversial season with Pirates.

The 31-year-old striker came in for plenty of criticism after he threw away his jersey and walked off the pitch when his club fans booed him during the game against Leopards at Orlando Stadium leaving his teammates to continue without him.

Gabuza later apologised to the fans and Pirates management for his actions.

“I would like to thank the entire Orlando Pirates family for all they have done for me during my stay here; I leave with a lot of wonderful memories and lifelong friendships.

“I would like to also especially thank the Chairman (Irvin Khoza) for the father figure role he has played in my life,” he told the Pirates’ website.

He will link up with the likes of Aubrey Modiba and Bradley Grobler upfront at United.
