Fan gets ‘Unlimited’ cricket experience
Local fan spends a day with the Titans after winning the 13th man Competition.

The Unlimited Titans gave a special treatment to the 13th man competition winner of the day Jacques van der Westhuizen on Sunday.
Van der Westhuizen was given a nice treat during the Cobras and Unlimited Titans game where he had the opportunity to go down the pitch and watch the coin toss. The stage was set for him to strategise and rub shoulders with some of the finest South African cricketers.
The winning 13th man got an opportunity to engage with players during and after the game.
Van der Westhuizen said spending time with the Titans players was such a big blessing for him.
“There are so many highlights for me like meeting the players, spending time in the box, listening to what the Titans players were talking about (discussing game-plans). I cannot really say I have one highlight, the whole day was quite a highlight for me,” he said.
Van der Westhuizen was accompanied by his wife and son, who watched the game on the stands.
“Another highlight was being a hero to my son, he still believes that I am actually playing for the Titans,” he said.
He jokingly said he will one day play for the Titans if he is called.
“If they really need me, I will be available; they said earlier that I am a good omen for the team.”
Unlimited said they started the initiative because they felt that spectators deserve a chance not only to speak to their favourite players but to get down to the field with them and know what it is like to be a professional cricketer.
The Unlimited Titans’ 13th man competition offers fans the opportunities to rub shoulders and connect with the Titans players. The winning fan will get a VIP treatment on the day, he/she will get an opportunity to go on the field with the players for warm-up and coin toss.
After the game, fans were given the opportunity to speak to their favourite Unlimited Titans players, who also signed autographs.
