Vorster in first match against Luxembourg
Pretoria Boys High old boy, Tucker Vorster, will start the Davis Cup tie against Luxembourg in Irene for South Africa when he face Alex Knaff in the first singles match on Friday.
The Davis Cup tie between South Africa and Luxembourg kicks off tomorrow with Tucker Vorster playing in the first singles match of the Euro/Africa Zone Group 2 against Alex Knaff of this small European statelet.
Knaff’s name was drawn first on Thursday at the official draw for the tie in Irene. He is Luxembourg’s top player. The draw was conducted by Nancy Neti from Tennis South Africa.
The young Lloyd Harris from South Africa, who will play in his first Davis Cup tie against Luxembourg, will face Ugo Nastasi in the second singles match on Friday.
Ruan Roelofse and Dean O’Brein, now an experienced doubles pair in the South African team, will play in the doubles match on Sunday against Nastasi and Mike Scheidweiler.
In the reverse singles matches, which will be played on Sunday if there is still no result on Saturday, Vorster will face Nastasi and Harris will play against Knaff.
The draw was completed again on the historic dairy farm in Irene, right next to the Irene Country Club, on Thursday morning. The tie will be played on the courts of the Irene Country Club.
Players from both teams, guests and the media were after the draw treated to fresh milk from the farm and freshly-baked products such as genuine South African milk tart.
Play starts at 10:00 on Friday and Sunday and at 12:00 on Saturday.
