Stars beat No Fear Boys
No Fear boys suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of Blue Stars in the SAB league match at Muckleneuk Sports Ground in Mamelodi on Sunday.
Blue Stars defeated No Fear Boys 2-1 in a sizzling SAB league encounter at the Muckleneuk sports ground in Mamelodi on Sunday.
Christopher Netshidzivhe and Sipho Sangweni found the back of the net in the first stanza to seal a well-deserving victory. Michael Mphahlele consoled No Fear Boys with a second half goal – but it was not enough to avoid defeat.
Stars dominated the first stanza and made clear their intention to accept nothing less than victory. Their stunning performance created immense pressure for No Fear Boys, leading them to unnecessary mistakes. One of their costly mistakes occurred when Alfred Moni fouled Sipho Sangweni near the 18-area-box. Netshidzivhe fired the grass cutting shot into the net in the 28th minute.
No Fear Boys goalie, Charles Maredi positioned himself behind his side wall during a free kick leaving a wide space on the left. As a result he could not save Netshidzivhe’s powerful shot into the space.
Stars extended the lead towards the end of the first half after Maredi passed the ball by mistake to Sangweni who placed the ball on the left side of the woodwork.
In their attempts to find an equaliser No Fear boys took control of the game in the second stanza.
Their dedication and hunger to restore their dignity paid off in the 70th minute when Mphahlele had his name added to the score sheet. Mphahlele treated his side with a goal after playing a one-two-one combination with Happy Fonye and Christopher Mahlangu. However, the Boys needed at least two more goals to win the match or one to equalise.
The Mamelodi-based outfit will play Eersterust United at the Eersterust stadium on 1 April at 19:00.
Stars will also face United on 17 April at Caledonian stadium in Arcadia at 15:00.
