Proteas crash out of T20 World Cup
The Proteas fail yet again in a ICC major tournament.

South Africa was eliminated from the ICC T20 World Cup after England defeated Sri Lanka by 10 runs in India on Saturday.
The Proteas needed Sri Lanka to beat England in order to keep their hopes alive to qualify for the semi-finals, after losing to the West Indies on Friday.
AB de Villiers and his troops struggled against the Windies throughout that match. The team only managed a measly, low score of 122 in 20 overs. In reply, the Windies also struggled to reach the winning total of 123 as Protea spinners, Aaron Phangiso and Imran Tahir, caused wickets to tumble as the game reached its middle period.
The final over saw the Proteas needing to defend 9 runs. Kagiso Rabada however failed to pull it through while theWindies held their nerve to secure a three wicket victory with two balls to spare.
Friday’s loss saw the Proteas on edge as they had to wait on results from other games within the group in order for them to stand a chance of reaching the semi-finals. Their hopes were dashed after England secured their third win of the tournament.
South Africa have now lost two out of the three games they have played in the tournament thus far. Their last game will be against Sri Lanka on Monday.
Both England and the West Indies have now qualified for the semis in their group and will play New Zealand and the winner of Australia/India game respectively.
Following Friday’s defeat, many fans took to social media once again labelling the Proteas with the now infamous“chokers” term due to their inability to win crunch games.
