John Mitchell is on his way to England

It's official – John Mitchell will leave Pretoria and the Blue Bulls to join Eddie Jones and England’s coaching team.

The Blue Bulls Company (BBC) confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that it has come to a mutual agreement with their Executive of Rugby John Mitchell and the England Rugby Football Union (RFU), regarding his immediate release from his current contract with the company.

This official announcement comes after weeks of speculation about Mitchell’s negotiations with England’s coach Eddie Jones and the RFU.

According to all indications the Bulls will receive an acceptable transfer fee from the RFU after Mitchell completed only one year of his two-year contract with the BBC.

This situation is particularly ironic, as Mitchell was furious at Rekord earlier this year because of a report that emphasized the fact that his career was riddled by examples where he left previous employers before his contract could come to an end.

“We would like to humbly thank Mitch for his efforts over the last year. There is no doubt that he has made an impact on our brand, and we would like to wish him all of the best with his future endeavors,” said Barend van Graan, CEO of the BBC.

An official statement regarding his successor and the route forward will be made in due course.
