South Africa’s Davis Cup captain Marcus Ondruska will be delighted with the good progress that three of his regular players are currently making on the international tennis front.

While it seems that the promising young Lloyd Harris, South Africa’s top Davis Cup singles player, is settling permanently between the world’s top 100, there was also good news on the South African team’s doubles pair.

Harris continues to climb up the ATP Rankings ladder having moved a further two places in the latest rankings released on Monday.

The recent ATP Challenger winner cracked the top 100 list for the first time last week, and is this week in 98^th place in the standings.

Kevin Anderson has maintained his fifth place – one ahead of Roger Federer from Switzerland, with Serbian Nova Djokovic still the top ranked player in the world.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that Anderson will ever be available for his country in the Davis Cup tournament. This state of affairs remains unfortunate, especially because of the brilliant work done by Tennis SA nowadays, unlike the previous dispensation at that organization, which certainly contributed to Anderson’s attitude.

Meanwhile in the doubles the progress of South Africa’s best pair is also positive.  Raven Klaasen remains at number 13, while Ruan Roelofse moved up 15 spots on the standings to number 160.

In the women’s singles, Chanel Simmonds is the top-ranked SA representative at 488th.

Former Bulls and Springbok flank, Ruben Kruger’s 16-year-old daughter Zoë, is also moving closer to the top 500. She is currently the world’s 535th best women’s player.
