Sun Arena in Pretoria ready for Battle of the Warriors 4 boxing extravaganza

Great excitement and a lot of knockouts are expected on Sunday afternoon (23 June) at the Sun Arena in Pretoria when a boxing festival with, amongst others, six heavyweight battles will take place there.

The South African heavyweight boxing champion, Ruann Visser, looks hungry for action and ready to defend his title when he will climb through the ropes on Sunday afternoon in the Sun Arena, Pretoria, to take on Justice Siliga in a fight over twelve rounds.

Visser looked calm and confident at the official weighing session on Saturday. Both the SA heavyweight title and the WBA Pan Africa heavyweight title will be at stake when Visser and his challenger, Siliga, will be in action on Sunday.

According to his new coach, Steve Kalakoda, Visser is currently in the best shape of his life and South Africa will see a new Ruann Visser in action on Sunday at the Sun Arena at Menlyn Maine.

Since Visser lost on points against Elvis Moyo in February this year, he reported to Kalakoda’s gymnasium in the Western Cape, where he trained for three months.

According to Kalakoda, he firstly worked on improving Visser’s footwork, while he also changed his style to help the young giant make better use of his advantage in terms of his length and reaching distance on the attack.

Siliga said at the weigh-session he has nothing to lose and that he is convinced that he will be able to beat Visser. According to Siliga he is a man of few words and that he will do the talking on Sunday with his fists in the ring.

Sunday’s fight will be Siliga’s second attempt to win the South African heavyweight title. In 2017 he lost to former champion Osborne Machimana on points in a title fight.

Machimana surrendered the title shortly afterwards to Visser when the redheaded ‘Giant King’ – as he is known – knocked out the former champion in a title fight.

Spectators attending Sunday’s Battle of the Warriors 4 boxing tournament will experience a heavyweight boxing festival, as five of the other seven fights on the fight card are also heavyweight battles.

Well-known heavyweight stars such as Vladyslav Sirenko, Luke Sutherland, Flo Simba, Igor Shevutnutskiyi and Wikus Ludeke will all be part of the action.

There is also great excitement about the cruiser weight battle between the emerging young South African star, Chris Thompson and Youssouf Kasongo Mwanza from the DRC.

The action will start at 12:00. Tickets are available at Computicket or at the venue.
