Police commissioner condemns killing of north cop

Constable Tshabalala succumbed to his wounds in hospital.

National Police Commissioner General Khehla Sithole has condemned the killing of a police officer in Soshanguve extension 6 on Monday.

“I have tasked that a multi-disciplinary team search for the suspect and ensure that justice prevails,” said Sithole.

On Monday around 20:30 Constable Ruben Dumisani Tshabalala was on duty searching for a rape suspect.

Tshabalala was found with a gunshot wound to his upper body. Another man was found with him, with a gunshot wound to his chin, police said in a statement.

He succumbed to his wounds in hospital.

His service pistol and vehicle were found at the scene.

Police said the man who was found on the scene with him is in hospital under police guard until they can verify what role he played in this incident.
