Titans kick off new season with outstanding victory in 4-Day Domestic Series
The Titans started their attempt to dominate the local cricket scene again this coming season with a solid 129-run victory over the Dolphins in their first 4-Day Domestic Series game.

The Titans last week kicked off the new cricket season with a very good 129-run victory over the Dolphins in their 4-Day Domestic Series opening game at SuperSport Park.
Tshepo Moreki provided some late inspiration for the Multiply Titans by claiming a hat-trick to help bowl them to an unlikely 129-run victory over the Dolphins in their first game of the series.
The seamer accounted for Andile Phehlukwayo, Eathan Bosch and Daryn Dupavillon in successive deliveries to finish with a career-best four for 32 that sent the visitors tumbling to 161 all out, chasing 291 on the final afternoon at SuperSport Park.
It was a huge turnaround after the match had earlier appeared to be petering out towards a draw when the Dolphins were 124 for four and around 30 overs to play.
But Moreki’s magic turned the game upside down and concluded a fine victory for the home side, who had declared their second innings on 234 for seven.
This declaration was made possible by Neil Brand, who followed up his maiden century in the first innings with an impressive 77 in his second chance at the crease.
Mark Boucher’s side started the last day on 117 for three and they doubled that score thanks to their key batsman from the game.
There was not too much of support for Brand, except for an unbeaten 38 by Dayyaan Galiem and 17 from Junior Dala, with the hosts ending their innings in 53.2 overs.
However, Brand received good support in the first innings from men like Farhaan Behardien (116), Henry Davids (55) and the captain, Grant Thomson (50).
During the Dolphins’ first innings, Marcello Piedt was the man who did the most damage with the ball. He took four for 61 in 25.2 overs.
Brand, who was well-deserved appointed man of the match, also made his contribution as a bowler in the Dolphins’ second innings, taking two wickets for 20 runs in 15 overs.
The Titans will certainly try to build on last week’s performance when they step out against the Cape Cobras at Willowmoore Park in Benoni this week.
