Half centuries by Elgar, Klaasen and Makhanya give Titans a good lead after first innings in Port Elizabeth
After three excellent knocks by some of the Titans' batting stars, Mandla Mashimbyi's men are in a strong position in their 4-Day Domestic Series match against the Warriors in Port Elizabeth.
Half centuries by Dean Elgar (66), Heinrich Klaasen (68) and Sibonelo Makhanya (58) helped the Momentum Multiply Titans take control of the Warriors after both teams completed their first innings’ in their round two 4-Day Domestic Series encounter in Port Elizabeth.
There were also good contributions from Thabraiz Shamsi (36) and Junior Dala (20), which eventually enabled the visitors to score 293 runs for a first innings lead of 62 runs.
This followed after a good performance by the Titans bowlers on day one, with which they dismissed the Warriors 231. Lizaad Williams (4/64), assisted by Okhuhle Cele (2/36), Junior Dala (2/85) and captain Grant Thomson (2/9) were the Titans bowlers who caused the damage.
The Centurion-based outfit were trailing by 80 at the close of day one. Thanks to the contributions of Dala and Shamsi they were able to build up a lead, before you were bowled out shortly before tea time on day three.
Day one of this match was disrupted by rainy weather, but after that the weather played along well. If sunny weather continues, the chances are good that the match by Thursday night can have a result.
