Nomination process begins for Tshwane Women in Sports Awards
The second version of the Tshwane Women in Sports Awards will take place in February 2022, but the public and sports organizations are invited to submit their nominations in the 20 different categories before 22 January 2022.

The second edition of the Tshwane Women in Sports Awards was launched recently on the sports campus of the University of Pretoria.
It is well known that over the past 18 months the sport world was forced to postpone or cancel many events due to the Covid-19 pandemic. According to the Tshwane Sports Confederation (TSC), this situation threatened the momentum gained on matters such as gender parity, which raised awareness on women’s participation and leadership in sport, equal pay, safeguarding and incentives for women and girls to participate.
These are just some of the reasons why the TSC feel it necessary to uplift women in sport and ensuring that their importance and value are recognized. In doing so, the TSC publicly announced the official nomination categories where we will see local athletes honoured.
The Tshwane Women in Sports Awards, which will take place on 16 February 2022, will give recognition to women and girls achievers of sport in Tshwane. It is an initiative of the TSC.
These awards will recognise all the hard work and commitment of athletes. Not only for their participation in sports, but also the hard work that goes into it before achievement is possible.
Awards will also be made to coaches and officials involved off the field for their dedication.
Another aspect under scrutiny is the development of sport on grassroots level as well as management of sport within club and federation structures, not just in Tshwane but South Africa and the globe as a whole.
With 20 award categories for consideration and nomination, TSC in collaboration with the City of Tshwane and the Gauteng Sports Confederation (GSC) will award big achievers within Tshwane for their incredible accomplishments.
At the launch, Mr Winston Meyer, President of Tshwane Sports Confederation said they are excited to be able to host this prestigious event.
“The women and girls in Tshwane are the force behind the building of resilient communities within in our borders,” he continued.
He also thanked the City of Tshwane and the GSC for their backing as well as SPAR for their sponsorship to make the awards possible.
According to Meyer, the TSC is fiercely committed to spearheading sports excellence.
“As we continue to build a consistent, solid confederation and platform to connect with, support and build the sporting community in Tshwane, while celebrating and deepening our relationships with brands such as Spar and the HPC, we officially invite nominations from qualifying and eligible athletes, media, sponsors, management and the public to come forward,” Meyer concluded.
The public, as well as clubs and sports governing bodies are welcome to take part in the nomination process. Nominations are open until 22 January 2022. For the full list of nomination categories visit the Facebook page of the Tshwane Sports Confederation.
