Mixed success for Fidelity Titans against Cape Town opponents
There is still hard work ahead for the Titans' women's team, the Fidelity Titans, if they want to collect silverware for the trophy case at the end of the season, after having mixed success against the WP team this past weekend.

The Western Province women’s cricket team visited Centurion this past weekend for a doubleheader against their arch-rivals, the Fidelity Titans.
The two teams faced each other in a league match in the CSA Women’s One Day Cup on Saturday, while Sunday’s showdown was again part of the CSA Women’s T20 Challenge.
On Saturday, the Fidelity Titans produced one of their best ever wins against their Cape rivals with a superb performance, when they beat the WP Women by 137 runs in a CSA Women’s One Day Cup match at SuperSport Park.
The Fidelity Titans batted first and good contributions from captain Robyn Searle (75), Katherine Prior (79) and Tebogo Macheke (35 off 28) helped them to eventually achieve a solid score of 268/5 in their allotted 50 overs.
Only WP’s Dutch mercenary, Babette de Leede (77 off 66 balls) could achieve a respectable total, before her wicket was the last to fall in the 28th over with WP’s score at only 131 runs.
The Fidelity Titans could therefore boast of a victory of 137 runs.
– However, in the CSA Women’s T20 Challenge showdown between the same two teams on Sunday, things worked out quite differently.
The WP team batted first and eventually ended their 20 overs at 176/4, which included Faye Tunnicliffe’s mammoth unbeaten innings of 108 off 68 balls.
Katherine Prior (10), who opened the local team’s innings with Robyn Searle, was sent back to the pavilion in the fifth innings after being caught behind the wickets by De Leede.
Searle (16) was then run out of the next ball and Macheke (0) was short on her heels, while Gandhi Jafta (13) had to accept the same fate in the seventh over.
Tiani van der Heuvel (21*) and Ricea Coetzer (15*) tried their best towards the end, but could only take the score to 112/7 – a full 65 runs short of victory.
